Forget every circus movie you’ve ever seen before. CIRCUS ROSAIRE captures the power of love between humans and animals like no other film I can recall. Rarely has any animal trainer (let alone an entire family) been shown to be such an incredibly inspiring friend to wild beasts who are nothing less than life-long members of the Rosaire family; a heartbreaking and moving film.
Congratulations on the Best Florida Documentary award!! I'm still blown away by the film, it is a truly amazing piece of work and I feel so honoured to have seen it.
"We watched your movie on Thanksgiving as a family & we truly loved it. You guys did an amazing job. Great message about family, animals in captivity, and the effects of modern society on the traditional circus industry. LOVED LOVED LOVED IT! Everyone see the award winning documentary Circus Rosaire!"
Many years ago, I worked at a hospital in Nephi, Utah when the Rodeo came to town. The Zoppes brought newborn orphan Newton for us to care for. I fell madly in love with him. I always wondered what happened to him and was amazed when I found about this documentary. Also shed a tears when I learned my favorite newborn was no longer with us. I am anxious to see this movie!
My kids and I saw "Circus Rosaire" in San Francisco last weekend and loved it. That's all my children have been talking about is this film. Where can we get a dvd? Thank you!
I had the pleasure of seeing this film in Vancouver and absolutely LOVED it! Thank you for sharing the Rosaire's story and making such a beautiful movie.
Such a beautiful film, such a beautiful family. I highly recommend this film, i laughed and cried and was thoroughly entertained. I wish nothing but the best for these people and animals and will be making a donation to their habitat.
What a truly thought provoking movie. Circus Rosaire is an emotional roller coaster. I laughed one minute and cried the next, but throughout I was griped but the extraordinary relationship between man and beast.
This movie has the power to change the hearts and minds of those opposed to the keeping and training of all species of animals. I hope many who see it will support the Rosaires and their Big Cat Habitat.
Incredible documentary. My family and I were riveted from beginning to end. Although I haven't always believed in using animals in entertainment, this film has opened my eyes and mind to the Rosaire family and the importance of supporting them, their animals and films like yours. This is a very important movie that everyone MUST SEE. Thank you.
Congratulations on winning! It was a superb doc, you let the story tell itself & covered everything, including the opposing view of PETA & others. A sad story too, at times, but no matter what happens to their way of life in the future, through your film you have made the Rosaire family immortal.
This is such an incredible story about a family of real animal companions. I laughed so hard i cried, and then cried for real later. A perfect documentary.
A keenly felt and beautifully delivered film about human/nonhuman relationships, care, and commitment. An evocative and beautifully complimentary score. I would love to see this film again, and hope to visit the Rosaire sanctuary someday. Bravo!
Hello! I just wanted to say how much I loved your movie- it's one of the best documentaries I've ever seen! But my question is this: when will you give the film a wide (or limited) release? When can we expect to see this film in theatres? I'm dying to see it again, and I am certain that it would do well if given a release into theatres and reviewed by film critics.
Thanks again!
Amazing film! I was lucky enough to get tickets to see it at the AFI Dallas film festival. My kids loved it so much, they saw it twice! Where can we buy the dvd?
I was moved, enlightened and inspired by this beautiful film. The thoughtful depiction of dedication, perserverence, patience and boundless love for human and animal alike was sensitively captured by the film makers. We all have lessons to learn from the Rosaire family!
Its hard to put into words how great this film is. Heart-warming, hilarious, informative, inspiring, pretty much outstanding. I laughed I cried and enjoyed every minute. So simply put wonderful filmakers plus a wonderful family and their animals equals one of the best documentaries of all time. I encourage anyone with a pulse to watch this film, you won't be disappointed. I promise.
How awesome can it be? Mentally challenging story, with equally challenging aural appeal. Circus Rosaire takes one down memory lane to the days when the circus really did come to town! It lets one travel along the way of what happens with the animals yet does not circumvent the dynamics of family, society and the moral and philosophical interaction of the living kingdoms. Talent truly abounds and eminates from Robyn and Chad's project. This work is worthy of all it has taken to get here.
Love shines from this beautiful film! The inspiring, enduring love of the Rosaire family for their animals, their art form and each other is brightened through Chad's eyes and Robyn's heart. I wanted to run away and join the circus, until I remembered that my dog has me trained!? Instead I'll support the good cause of the Rosaires and this movie/lesson in love that Robyn, Chad, and the multi-talented Segersons have given us.
I watched your film a few days ago, and really did like
it. I must say that I started out with a skeptical
eye, coming from National Geographic and all, because
I have also been opposed to animal trainers. (I worked
with Jane Goodall, and she was terribly opposed to
trained chimps.) Having said that, I really did
finally come to understand and sympathize with your
main characters, and that was quite an accomplishment.
It took some time over the course of the entire film
to come around, but in the end I could truly see just
how sincere and honest they were. That is a testament
to the film. I was very glad that you included sound
bytes and footage of the animal rights protesters,
because that let the audience know that you were aware
of the conflict between the two camps, and that you
were fairly giving both equal time to air their views.
The cinematography was WONDERFUL, as was the editing
and music. I really did like the score. So, I think
that you have a winner on your hands. Congratulations
to you and to Robyn on such a great job. What an
accomplishment!
Attended the first public screening of this film at the Sarasota Film
Festival on 4/15/2007. It does a great job of conveying the love and concern that this wonderful show business family has for the many performing and retired animals that are in their care. Should this film be widely distributed it would alleviate many concerns that some of the public have regarding the use of animals in circuses. In addition to subject content, it is well shot and has excellent score. As a regular reviewer for the business newsletter "Circus Report and ShowBiz USA" I would have to say that this movie's successful release for either theaters or TV would be one of the most important events of our year.
I watched your film yesterday. What a delight. This is a really, really wonderful movie and I think you can both be extremely proud of what you've done (as can your editor who did a great job). It's very impressive and I think beyond that it is something important which has a message behind it, not only about these animals and their remarkable relationships with the trainers, but the story of this amazing and very likeable, eccentric family. I am so glad to see how strong this movie is, especially knowing how hard it has been to make it and how tough on both of you. Bravo!
